It's not a standard, but it's widely accepted to orient the faces:

• The red on the right.
• The yellow on top.
• The blue on front.

As a result:

• The X-axis goes from the left to the right face.
• The Y-axis goes from the up to the down face.
• The Z-axis goes from the back to the front face.

Formally, there is no equivalence between the letters 'L, R, U, D, F, B' and the colors 'O, R, Y, W, B, G'. However, for simplicity on this website, the Rubik's Cube is always considered oriented in the same way, so: Left & Orange; Right & Red; Up & Yellow; Down & White; Back & Green; Front & Blue can be considered equivalent.
